Nestled in Vilcabamba - the famed “Valley of Longevity” in southern Loja, Ecuador - Finca La Marquesa thrives in a climate and environment celebrated for producing energetic centenarians and exceptional coffee. Its location at 1,700 meters on the equator provides long, consistent sunlight that enhances the beans’ natural sweetness and complexity. This combination of climate, altitude, and rich soil makes the farm an ideal place for cultivating distinctive, high-quality coffee.
The farm’s soul lies in its people: producer Ximena León, her son Hubert Ontaneda, and her 90-year-old grandmother, Albertina Toledo, who still hand-selects cherries with unwavering dedication. Their family effort has led to creations like Sidra Sunset - an experimental blend of Sidra and Typica Mejorada, crafted through meticulous processing to yield a fruity, floral, memorable cup. Every bean from La Marquesa carries with it the heritage, patience, and devotion that define both the land and the family behind it.
