DESCRIPTION
Typica National is considered one of Ecuador’s most iconic and beloved coffee varieties, which is why many producers refer to it as “our favorite.” Its deep historical roots, refined cup quality, and excellent adaptability to different processing methods have made it a cornerstone of Ecuadorian coffee.
Agronomically, Typica National features tall, traditional plants with great stability in Andean regions, allowing for well-ripened cherries with higher sugar concentration.
In the cup, this variety is known for its creamy mouthfeel, a quality many attribute to its pure genetics, high bean density, and balanced chemical composition. This natural smoothness allows Typica National to express sweet, clean, and bright profiles across washed, honey, natural, and even extended fermentation processes.
Its versatility is one of its greatest strengths:
- In washed processes, it delivers clarity, gentle sweetness, and elegant citrus notes.
- In natural processes, it develops ripe fruit character, silky body, and aromatic complexity.
- In experimental fermentations, it maintains structure, stability, and consistency without losing cleanliness.
For all these reasons, Typica National remains one of Ecuador’s most cherished varieties—reliable, expressive, versatile, and deeply connected to the country’s coffee identity.
